Review
On its follow-up to 2003 debut, I Am The Movie, this Minnesota-based band sounds like it's clawing for the big time with efficient melodies and tight, taut choruses, plus producer Mark Hoppus of Blink-182's platinum punk-pop direction. It's hard to imagine how it could fail--fiery rockers like "Hold Me Down" and "Time Turn Fragile" sound tailor-made for teenage spring-break festivities despite their less-than-breezy subject matter, while the fact that Motion City Soundtrack remains the only band of its kind to employ a full-time Moog player should easily set it apart from the rest of the bespectacled MySpace/Warped Tour pack. --Aidin Vaziri Minneapolis's Motion City Soundtrack took the indie scene by storm with their 2003 debut, "I Am The Movie". This follow-up represents a major step forward, a breakthrough release in the tradition of Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" or AFI's "Sing The Sorrow"; a masterpiece of pop harmonies and sing along choruses layered on top of their trademark angular guitars, loopy synths, and stop/start dynamics. Produced by Mark Hoppus (Blink 182).
