Review

Morphius Records is proud to present the first release on our new archival sub-label, Morphius Archives! And what a title to start things off with - “More,” the long lost, final studio recordings from DC's infamous noise/performance anti-punks NO TREND! Originally recorded as the follow-up to NO TREND's Touch and Go Records debut, “Tritonian Nash-Vegas Polyester Complex,” “More” was the over-the-top, bizarre, impossible to describe follow up only NO TREND could concoct. When NO TREND submitted the final recordings, Touch and Go passed - it was “too weird.” And in fairness, they were right. But “More” represents NO TREND at their creative peak; a thoroughly perplexing album filled with strange twists and turns, ideas that are alternately “difficult” and amusing, and a completely unselfconscious willingness to explore whatever genres came to mind. That was the essence of NO TREND - a daring attempt to avoid cliche, invite scorn, and challenge whatever conventions happened to be around.

Generally (and unfairly) ignored by DC punk/hardcore historians, NO TREND was a fixture on the early 80's scene, notorious for wild, audience baiting performances up and down the east coast. They were added to several DEAD KENNEDY's shows across the US by Jello Biafria (an early fan), recorded with Lydia Lunch for her label (Widowspeak) and generally left a trail of uncomfortably confused show-goers where ever they went. We are thrilled to present this post-post-punk masterpiece with detailed liner notes by BIG TAKEOVER's JACK RABID, archival photos, and 40 minutes of music you have to hear to believe. On second thought, that might not even help...
