Review

Deep Blue Happy is the follow up to London based 4 piece RAY's 2001 critically acclaimed debut release 'First Light' (Rough Trade).
The album is an elegantly cinematic showcase for Nev Bradford's distinctive poetic vocals - which have been compared to the likes of Nick Cave, Arthur Lee and Nick Drake - and the shimmering guitar work of his brother Mark.Debut album from London based four-piece. 'Guitar notes hang in the air. Words are weighted then dispersed in the ether...but acutely present undercurrents of hostility, give the songs a serrated edge. - NME. 'Almost flawless... Ray's first time touch is breathtakin' - Q Magazine. 'A wondrous exercise in English melancholia' - Time Out UK, 'Sublimely Melodic' - The Guardian. 11 tracks. Pito. 2006.
