Review
Born to a family steeped in centuries-old Spanish musical traditions, singer Rosario perfects her spicy, modern flamenco/rumba/pop/bossa nova mix on her fifth CD, Muchas Flores. The music is as alluring and textured as her dark and lovely looks, with one foot in the Iberian Peninsula and the other in Cuba and New York. "Al Son del Tambor," the title track, and "Tuyo Siempre" dance with urban attitude. "Como Quieres Que Te Quiera" and "Agua y Sal" are midtempo, island-breezed boleros that feature smooth guitar fills. For Rosario, these songs about love and life are the sonic flowers she shares with her fans. It's rare to achieve a "live" sound in a studio, but Rosario, with the expert production of Fernando Illan and Cachorro Lopez, manages to do just that. --Eugene Holley, Jr.Rosario is Daughter of Legendary Flamenco Star, Lola Flores.
