Review
Where Portishead inhabits shadowy corners of the soul, their Bristol mates opt for a much more extroverted, uptempo dance-oriented sound. Rock-steady beats are colored by trumpet and melodica, while singer Helen White warbles decorously. Try "Essential Times" or "Valentine" for the best overall idea. --Jeff Bateman
