Review

SUBSONIC is a present band from Brittany, that plays French rock. Its three musicians prove to be both skilful and inspired. Bass-player Pierre PARYS is a really captivating vocalist, whose voice is between that of Bertrand CANTAT (NOIR DESIR) and Jean-Louis AUBERT (TELEPHONE). After a brilliant first eponymous album recorded in 2002, the trio is back three years later with "Dark City", released on the Rebel Music label. Unexpectedly, these eleven tracks succeed in blending hints to Edith PIAF with TRUST-like touches... They also show a hard-rock culture deeply rooted in the Seventies French scene. From THE STOOGES to NOIR DESIR, through THE OFFSPRING and TRUST, SUBSONICs playground seems to be boundless...
