Review
Triumph of Time is a fluid and eclectic foray into R&B, jazz, classical, Latin rhythms and an amalgam of exotic indigenous music from around the globe. The album is inspired by the writings of turn-of-the-century poet A.C. Swinburne and William Shakespeare. Tama Waipara's compositions contain an almost instinctual rhythm that combines organic and electronic instrumentation, with his vivid lyrics that seem to evoke a vision that is sublime and enchanted - where thoughts become poetry, poetry becomes verse and verse becomes song.
Triumph of Time is a spellbinding album of ethereal harmonies, roots rhythms and richly evocative lyrics, and could be described as an aural and lyrical journey from this soulful Maori artist (New Zealand).
