Review
Pendergrass's second album after his departure from Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes continued his solo ascent. Life Is a Song Worth Singing masterfully mixes and matches moods, flowing from two very different anthems (the dramatic title track and the party jam "Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose") through seductive classics such as "Close the Door." His rich vocals ride tasty Philly tracks on one of the city's true masterpieces. --Rickey Wright
