This edition contains the Gerry Mulligan Quartet's complete issued studio recordings with drummer Gus Johnson, released on the album entitled simply the Gerry Mulligan Quartet, recorded on May 14-15, 1962. A version of Mulligan's composition I Know, Don't Know How recorded at the Village Vanguard on February 25, 1962. The high point of this release is Mulligan's exceptional Spring Is Sprung Session recorded in New York on December 11-12, 1962, with Brookmeyer, Crow and drummer Dave Bailey.
