Review

This is a confident, hip, and soulful Toronto group whose foundations are jazz and R&B. Such is their stylistic reach that the only effective description is contemporary pop. Gerald Eaton is a distinctive frontman, Jon Levine's lyrics have intriguing substance, and the music takes all kinds of chances--aside from a safe-as-milk "Just Like A Woman". "Turn My Head Around" is an infectiously jazzy track and "All To Myself" has a sharp streetcorner groove, but it's the Simply Red-like "Charms" that really stands out. --Jeff Bateman
