Review

Since caroling is all about harmony and spirit, it's not surprising that Motown's superb array of vocal groups would take to holiday song so perfectly. This generous 25-song helping of Christmas cheer puts the spotlight on fan favorites like the Temptations (who deliver a handful of honey-sweet performances, highlighted by "Silent Night"), Diana Ross & the Supremes (who really soar on "Joy to the World"), and then-adolescent phenoms the Jackson 5 (led by Michael, who turns in a playful performance of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"). Interspersed between the traditional songs are some hit-and-miss originals, most performed by Stevie Wonder. --David Sprague
