From the time of Pythagoras, about 2600 years ago, music has been played on glass in various ways. In 1761, Benjamin Franklin invented the `glass armonica', which works on the same principle as running your finger around the rim of a wine glass. On Songs from Earth, William Wilde Zeitler has used the glass armonica's haunting, ethereal sound to create a moving collection of peaceful songs for yoga, massage or relaxation.
